KLAY Schools are compliant with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards.We adhere to the following KLAY standards in all our centers across India.
KLAY STANDARDS:
1) Relationship:
KLAY teachers create a safe and secure environment for every child. An interpersonal relationship and positive behavior is role-modeled in order to encourage individuality and build team work spirit in children. This enhances freedom of expression which intern boosts self confidence. Children thrive on sense of belongingness, care for each other -thus making a better human being.
2) Curriculum:
KLAY provides twin methodologies: teacher facilitated and child oriented curriculum. The curriculum is designed based on Multiple Intelligences, which ensures all round development of each child. To achieve this, our approach has hands on activities, real-life and age appropriate experiences. Constant assessment via daily observation is the high light of KLAY curriculum.
3) Teaching:
KLAY teaching approach applies to regional culture, language and growth in order to cater to multi syllabi goals. KLAY applies the Multiple Intelligence teaching approach, encouraging individual as well as team based learning among the children. It also uses teacher directed and child directed activities like sing along, puppets, story-telling, music and movement, and ICT to teach various concepts. These activities are integrated and thus cater to different learning areas of language, mathematics and social-sciences.
4) Assessments:
At KLAY a continuous, systematic formal and informal assessment of a child is done based on daily observation. Portfolios and anecdotal records are shared with parents regularly through diary communication on daily basis and progress reports at the end of the term.
5) Health:
KLAY believes in ‘Healthy Mind, Healthy Body’. Keeping a clean environment by using non-toxic educational resources and developing healthy habits is role-modeled by the staff. The staff is well-trained in First Aid. General rules and routines are followed to maintain hygiene and cleanliness as well as strict policies against contagious diseases is laid out to ensure healthy environment. Positive attitude towards health will be reinforced by teachers and staff. The school resources and equipment is child safe.
6) Teachers:
KLAY teachers are compassionate, patient, passionate, and responsible towards children, parents and colleagues. They are trained to execute planned age appropriate curriculum by integrating various concepts of Language,Maths and Social-sciences. The teachers are skilled in classroom management and are able to inculcate positive behavior and right conduct in the children by being a role model for them in the school. The teachers are able to make learning fun and interesting. They support the high quality learning environment in order to achieve holistic development of the child.
7) Families:
AT KLAY we respect family values, language, and culture of the children. KLAY lays emphasis in involvement of families by daily communication through modern technology, conducting workshops, inviting parents for school events and organizing periodic parent teacher interaction and orientation. Parents will be an integral part of school learning by volunteering and participating in school activities and Parent Association.
8) Community Relationship:
KLAY encourages and builds community awareness and relationship through:
- Visits to charitable institutions.
- Interactive session with community services like hospital, fire-station, post-offices, etc.
- Inviting community helpers and health care providers for interactive sessions and workshops.
- Educational field trips to places of interest like zoo, museum, supermarket, bank, historic monuments, etc.
9) Physical Environment:
KLAY provides well maintained, ventilated and organized physical environment to ensure safety and security along with fun. Our various learning zones are: creative zone, block zone, nature zone, cycle zone, book zone, theatre zone, discovery zone, wet zone – all of which have constant adult supervision. Provision of sick room is also made to isolate an ill child while under our care. The creative classrooms act as third teacher at KLAY where learning happens effortlessly and spontaneously.
10) Leadership and management:
Leadership and management team at KLAY is efficient, approachable and maintains a process oriented system with well defined procedures, policies, roles and responsibilities. KLAY intends to create stable and happy staff. Their efficiency is enhanced through ongoing trainings, workshops, appreciation and appraisals. Clear communication is maintained between staff, parent and management.
