“There is a girl who stole my heart and she calls me Daddy!
I have always been fascinated by inventions and discoveries that human beings have accomplished. From supersonic flying objects to today’s mobile phones that have put the world in our palm, how humans have changed the world has always enthralled me. However, it wasn’t until my daughter was born that I realized how a tiny human being itself is the greatest creation. I was in the labour room when my daughter was born and no matter how hard I tried, I could not resist the tears in my eyes when I saw her for the first time. Since then we have tried to capture her every ‘first moment’, from taking her first baby steps, her first sip of milk from a tumbler to something as small as eating her first mango and countless other moments. Needless to say, these were the greatest moments of joy in my life.
What I have realized is that the greatest gift you can give to your child is not something materialistic or worldly; after all, their prized possessions are just a few toys. The best gift that you can give to your child is to commit your time, patience, and ears to them. Honestly, what you learn from them is more than anything you can teach them. I feel more complete as a human being now; someone who has a strong and motivational reason for existence. My daughter has revived the kid in me and I can do all the so-called stupid dances, laugh at silly things, and we even have our alien language.
I am a typical dad where it’s hard for me to say ‘no.’ Although I agree that I do spoil her sometimes as my daughter giggles when she is denied an ice cream by her mother because she knows daddy will get her some later. My greatest fear in life is that my daughter will soon grow up. However, I strongly believe that these memories will never outgrow my heart!”
