As we enter a new decade, I wish each one of you and your families a very Happy New Year. I hope this year and this decade brings your family together and as a mother of two wonderful teenage boys, my (unsolicited) advice to you is to be focused on your child, as a gardener, nurturing and guiding them and not as a carpenter, trying to give shape and finish. These precious years, which we will never get back, are also the most important years in your child’s life.
For us at KLAY, what started out with the sole purpose of bringing women back to work has today snowballed into a larger ‘pride of parenting’ movement for both the working mom and dad. As we join hands to navigate the urban parenting landscape, we’ve walked alongside you to impart the quintessential human values and academic readiness for your children, as they prepare to face the world.
The potential of what we are doing at KLAY is immense. Contributing to the national interest at two levels – supporting the current workforce and equipping the future generation – has put us in the driver’s seat for enhancing the economics of human potential. Where these children will go and how they will contribute to society is in our joint hands and we are so happy to be partnering with you in this journey. I would like to thank each one of you for the trust that you have put into us.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the team at KLAY to bring us this far. I would say that our secret sauce is the culture of ‘freedom to flub’ something that we’ve jointly come to believe in. In a nutshell, it is the freedom to experiment, to make mistakes and learn from them, all in the interest of innovating the best for our customers.
The ‘freedom to flub’ also advocates empathy – to be lenient of others’ mistakes, to be responsive (rather than reactive) to problems, and most importantly, to lend a sense of conscientious caring in whatever we do. This is our DNA and is a part of what we truly stand for. Our belief in building communities, one family at a time lies at the heart of our ethos.
Till date, we have empowered over 30,000 parents through 160+ facilities (corporate and standalone) across India and now in Sri Lanka. We are a 3100+ women oriented workforce and as we grow from strength to strength, we will always have our ears and eyes open to understand what is best for you and your little one.
As I write this, we are already working on some exciting projects for 2020. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, we are pioneering what may be India’s first-ever community for fathers, by fathers. 2020 will undoubtedly be the ‘Year of the Parent’; stay tuned!
Our Joy of Giving campaign, a KLAY initiative, aimed at spreading happiness and joy and making a difference to the local communities around our centres kicked off this month. This year we plan to run the campaign on a large scale and have hence tied up with different kinds of partners, ranging from NGO’s, to Anganwadis to elderly care units and orphanages. A great way to inspire in our little ones the qualities of generosity and selflessness, through this initiative, we hope to support these organizations and bring a smiles to those not as fortunate as us. Please get in touch with your Centre Director if you wish to contribute towards this initiative.
I leave all of you with a Season’s Greetings video, a dedication to all our Super Heroes – the teachers, the didis, security bhaiyas, and support teams, who work tirelessly every day to support and enable thousands of families of our children. Their passion, hard-work and focus have made us the brand that we are, the brand that we are so proud of.
Here’s wishing you and your families a joyful New Year once again. Remember we are here to support you as you partake in the Joy of Parenting.
